Harrell Pledges to Protect Taxpayers

July 12th, 2007 at 04:01pm Anthony Bonna

Representative Gayle Harrell, candidate for US House of Representatives, signed the Americans for Tax Reform?s taxpayer protection pledge last month in Washington, DC. According to ATR, the Pledge commits signers to ?oppose any and all efforts to increase the marginal income tax rates for individuals and/or businesses ? and oppose any net reduction or elimination of deductions and credits, unless matched dollar for dollar by further reducing tax rates.”

“Gayle Harrell is the candidate in this race most-committed to protecting the taxpayers of Florida,” said Anthony Bonna, Deputy Campaign Manager of the Harrell Congressional Campaign. “As the campaign progresses, Gayle Harrell will talk more about her vision of cutting taxes and reigning in spending,” he continued. “Her record in the Florida House of Representatives proves she can do it.”

In the state legislature, Harrell has amassed a fiscally conservative record by voting to cut taxes $12 billion. Harrell was called the “only Rep to vote for the people” by the Fort Pierce Tribune, a reference to her vote to oppose a $10 billion sales tax increase.

“Representative Harrell has a rock-solid record of cutting taxes and protecting taxpayers,” observed Bonna.

“There is no question that Harrell has the courage of her convictions. Considering the ballooning federal deficit and culture of earmarks under both parties, the voters would benefit immensely from Harrell’s leadership and independence in Washington,” Bonna said.

Bonna said Gayle Harrell is a fiscal conservative who contrasts sharply with the pro-tax liberals of the Pelosi/Mahoney Congress. Since being elected, Mahoney has voted to raise taxes by over $400 billion, voted for a bill that contained over $24 billion in pork barrel spending, and voted against reprimanding fellow liberal Jack Murtha for his ethics violations concerning earmarks.

“The differences between Harrell and Mahoney couldn?t be stronger,” concluded Bonna.
